Maryam Banikarim
Chief Marketing Officer
Univision Communications Inc.

Maryam Banikarim is Chief Marketing Officer of Univision Communications Inc., the nation’s leading Spanish-language media company.  Ms. Banikarim oversees all company-wide marketing and public relations initiatives across the Company’s television, music, radio and online assets, which represent a combined $1.9 billion portfolio.  Under her leadership, marketing efforts focus on raising Univision’s profile before the business community, enhancing the overall relationship with consumers and connecting clients with the growing U.S. Hispanic market.  She joined Univision in 2002 as Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing, and has been instrumental in driving incremental sales and revenue growth for the Company.

Ms. Banikarim has more than 15 years of broadcast, publishing, multimedia and advertising agency experience. Previously, she provided management and marketing consulting services to a variety of clients including Time Warner, Deutsche Bank and Bacardi Ltd.  Her experience also includes roles as Publisher at Macmillan Publishing and General Manager and Marketing Director for Citysearch.  In addition, Ms. Banikarim was a member of the first integrated marketing solutions group at Turner Broadcasting.  She began her marketing career in account management at Young and Rubicam. 

Ms. Banikarim earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Barnard College where she won the Harry S. Truman scholarship. She also holds an MBA and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from Columbia University.

In August 2006, Ms. Banikarim was selected as one of Advertising Age’s “40 under 40” list of youthful stars who are change leaders in the marketing arena. And in March of 2006, Ms. Banikarim earned a place on Fast Company’s “Fast Fifty” list of corporate trailblazers and trendsetters. She sits on the board of Advertising Week, Sweat Equity Enterprises, the Mt. Sinai Adolescent Healthcare Center and serves as Chair of the Affiliates Council for Prep for Prep.  She has lived and worked in several countries, including Argentina, Brazil, France, Iran and the United Kingdom, and currently resides in New York City with her husband and two children.

 

Andy Berndt
Managing Director, Creative Lab
Google

Andy is responsible for stewardship of the Google brand.  As Managing Director of the Google Creative Lab, Andy leads the marketing team's creative efforts, and inspires brand advertisers to innovate with Google’s products and services.

Andy joined Google from Ogilvy, New York where, as Co-President, he oversaw Ogilvy’s advertising, direct, digital, and other marketing capabilities.  Prior to taking this role, Andy was Managing Director and oversaw the agency’s operations and business functions. Before taking on these management roles, Andy was a Group Creative Director and copywriter on the IBM account at Ogilvy, including the e-business campaign and Linux efforts. 

Earlier, Andy was recruited by Steve Jobs and Lee Clow to help Chiat/Day, Los Angeles, re-launch the brand upon Steve’s return to Apple.  He served as worldwide account director and guided the “Think Different” campaign, the launch of the iMac, and the introduction of the Apple Online Store.  Andy joined Chiat/Day from Wieden & Kennedy where he helmed the Nike account and oversaw all lines of U.S. business, from equipment with Tiger Woods to apparel with Michael Jordan.  Andy also led segments of
the Microsoft account while at Wieden & Kennedy and handled various brand and product campaigns including the introduction of Windows 95.

Andy started his advertising career at Ammirati & Puris, in NY.  He decided to give advertising a try after his stints as volunteer fireman, would-be architect, and carpenter didn’t quite pan out. 

Throughout his career, Andy has explored how creativity and ideas can reach, connect and move people — regardless of medium, format or execution.  His work has been recognized many times over by various industry bodies, both in the U.S. and abroad.  Andy was inducted into the Hall of Achievement by the American Advertising Federation in 2007.

Andy graduated from Duke University with a bachelor’s degree in English literature, where he also played basketball under Coach Mike Krzyzewski.

 

Kenneth "Casey" Keller
Executive Vice President and CMO
Motorola

Kenneth C. “Casey” Keller, Jr., 45, is executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Motorola, Inc., headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois.

In this role, Keller is responsible for overseeing corporate-wide marketing, strategy development and execution, agency management, public relations and media outreach, internal marketing, marketing communications (including advertising, promotions and events), web/interactive marketing, sponsorships, entertainment and market research.

Prior to joining Motorola in 2006, Keller served as chairman and CEO of Heinz Italy, where he led a successful turnaround and revitalization of Heinz’s leading position in Infant Feeding and Medical Food in Italy.  Previously, Keller was the chief growth officer for H.J. Heinz Company with responsibility for defining the strategy and key initiatives to drive profitable, topline growth and strengthening the focus on and plans for the company’s top brands. Prior to that role, Keller was managing director of Heinz’s U.S. Ketchup, Condiments & Sauces business and Global Category Leader, Sauces & Condiments.

Before Heinz, Keller spent almost ten years at the Procter & Gamble Company, where he was responsible for Pringles, Duncan Hines and other leading consumer brands.

As an officer in the U.S. Navy, he led several divisions onboard the USS Dewey (DDG-45).  Keller was also on the staff of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Surface Warfare in the Pentagon.  He was awarded the Navy Commendation and Achievement medals.

In 2001, Keller was named Grand Marketer of the Year by Brandweek magazine for the turnaround and growth of Heinz Ketchup.  He serves on advisory boards for Summerbridge Pittsburgh and the DT Watson Institute.

Keller received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Cornell University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.

 

Richard Pilnik
Group Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer
Eli Lilly & Co.

Richard D. Pilnik was named group vice president and chief marketing officer for Eli Lilly and Company in May 2006. He is also a member of the company's operations committee and senior management council. He had been president of Europe, Middle East, and Africa operations since December 2000.

A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Pilnik received a bachelor's degree in economics from Duke University in 1979 and a master of business administration degree in marketing and strategic planning from Northwestern University in 1983.

Before joining Lilly in 1983, Pilnik was Latin American regional manager for American Hospital Supply Corporation. His first positions at Lilly were staff associate roles in various U.S. locations.

In 1985, he became manager of pharmaceutical sales in Atlanta, Georgia. The next year, he moved to Caracas,Venezuela, as director of pharmaceutical sales and marketing. In 1988, he took the same position in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and in 1991, he became the marketing director for Europe, Middle East, and Africa. In 1993, he became the general manager of the company's Mexican affiliate. He was named director of Latin America in 1995, and in 1997, he became area director of Latin America and Canada. He was named vice president of global marketing in May 1998.

Pilnik is on the board of the Duke University Fuqua School of Business, Crossroads of America-Boy Scouts Council, BCIU (Business Council for International Understanding in Washington, D.C.), and formerly on the executive committee of the Pharmaceutical Research Manufacturers Association European Regional Council, and the European Pharmaceutical Industry Association (EFPIA).

 

Kate Shevack
CMO
Timex

Kate Shevack is a seasoned global marketing executive with an established track record in new product development and brand revitalization.  In March 2006, Shevack was appointed chief marketing officer of Timex.  In this role, she will be responsible for developing and driving the global marketing and communications strategy for the Timex Corporation reporting to CEO Jose Santana.

Her extensive professional marketing background makes Shevack uniquely suited to driving Timex business growth.  She has an innate understanding of how to maximize success within global and regional business models.  Prior to joining Timex, she worked as a senior consultant at SpencerHall, a specialty consulting firm focusing on new product development, trend projection and brand positioning. 

Her resume also includes a wide-range of marketing experience at Reckitt Benckiser within Europe and the US.  Shevack began her career in the corporation’s UK household products division and was transferred to the US to be responsible for integrated marketing strategies for a portfolio of well-regarded brands such as Lysol, Airwick and Wizard.  Shevack later ascended to vice president of marketing for Reckitt Benckiser’s Food division.  Within two years she successfully repositioned major brands such as French’s and Frank’s RedHot. In addition Shevack spearheaded new product development injecting a significant pipeline of new market and channel entries.

Shevack has a solid understanding of how to develop effective integrated marketing programs having directed countless agency relations across advertising, public relations, media and promotions agencies throughout her 17 year marketing career.  She is highly motivated and dynamic in her approach, inspiring an organization to challenge its assumptions and to translate new ideas into market success.

Shevack holds a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Economics with Accountancy from Loughborough University of Technology in the UK.  She is fluent in German and has working knowledge of French.  Shevack lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
