Anne Altmeyer is an Executive Director in Business Development and Licensing in the Oncology Business Unit at Novartis, USA. Her responsibilities are to in-license or acquire Oncology assets that can further strengthen the Novartis Oncology portfolio. In this role, she identifies, evaluates, and negotiates transactions for oncology opportunities. She also manages several ongoing alliances.
Anne has over 13 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry working in positions of increasing responsibilities in Research, Development, and Business Development. Anne joined the Oncology Project Management group of Novartis in 2004, and has led numerous multidisciplinary Project Teams through the generation and implementation of strategies for various compounds in development and on the market. Before joining Novartis, Anne worked as a Project Manager at Merck & Co. for over 3 years and as a Visiting Research Scientist for 2 years.
Anne received her Ph.D. in Molecular Immunology from Strasbourg University, France. She then performed a postdoctoral fellowship at New York University School of Medicine, USA, and subsequently became a Research Associate at Cornell University Medical College, New York, USA. In addition to her scientific training, Anne also received a Master in Business Administration and a Master in Public Health from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Rutgers, USA.
Barbara J. Dalton

Barbara is a pharmaceutical executive who has spent over 25years in the industry - most of that time as a corporate venture capitalist. At Pfizer she is responsible for growing their corporate venture activities, managing the current equity portfolio and advising on structured equity transactions. She was trained as a research scientist in a virology and immunology laboratory at The Medical College of Pennsylvania where she received her Ph.D. She pursued inflammation drug discovery research at SmithKline’s research laboratories and joined their venture capital group, S.R. One, Limited in the early 1990’s. While there, Barbara was a founding member of EuclidSR Partners, a private New York based venture capital firm where SmithKline (now GSK) was a leading limited partner. She joined that firm full time in 2003. In 2007 she moved to her current position at Pfizer. Barbara has had management responsibility for over 40 fund investments and 100 diverse company investments in the US and Europe and has had direct investing responsibility for biotechnology therapeutic and platform technology companies, as well as some healthcare IT and service businesses. She has routinely represented her firm’s investments by participating at the board level in companies such as: Alere, Ciphergen, Corixa, Genset, Gliatech, Gryphon, Lexicon, iJET, OGS, Third Wave, Rib-X. In the community she has been active in her regional venture investors association, the MAC Alliance, serving as Chairman, and supported the venture philanthropy efforts of the Institute for the Study of Ageing as a board member. She is an advisor to the Dean of the Penn State Eberly College of Science, where she received her undergraduate degree, and a member of The Penn State Research Foundation Board of Directors. She is on the board of the New York Biotech Association and just stepped down from the board of the National Venture Capital Association.
Sheila Dell, Ph.D

Sheila Dell, Ph.D. Vice President, Business development brings extensive product development and commercialization experience since the last ten years to Catalent Pharma Solutions, formerly part of Cardinal Health.
Prior to joining Catalent Pharma solutions, Dr. Dell spent more than 12 years in the pharmaceutical industry in different management positions in product development and commercial operations at J&J; Wyeth and FMC Corporation.
She received her M.S in Pharmaceutics from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh and her Ph.D in Pharmaceutics from Temple University in Philadelphia.
She holds more than 10 patents and has several publications.
Pamela Demain

Pamela Demain is Executive Director, Corporate Licensing at Merck & Co., Inc. She has been at Merck for 29 years. For fifteen years, she has been responsible for negotiating transactions with companies, universities and institutions worldwide, including arrangements for compounds, research collaborations, patents, formulations and research platform technologies.
Pam also heads up the relationship development area, which includes responsibility for Merck's partnering outreach program, initiating new business development opportunities and building relationships with companies and universities worldwide. For the past 10 years, she has been instrumental in the strategic transformation of Merck from an inward-looking to an outward-facing company focused on partnerships with companies and universities worldwide.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Demain was in charge of the Business Information & Research Department in the Worldwide Human Health Marketing area of Merck, providing global strategic decision support for all of Merck's new and in-line products.
Previous positions at Merck include 13 years in Corporate Planning, Marketing Communications and Product Management, where she was responsible for the worldwide launch of PRIMAXIN/TIENAM. She joined Merck in 1981 as part of the MBA management training program.
Pamela’s pharmaceutical career began in the natural products laboratory of Gruppo Lepetit, an Italian pharmaceutical company, which was then a subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company. Ms. Demain is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and holds a M.B.A. in International Business from The American University in Washington, D.C. and is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP™).
Pam is currently Vice President of Communications, Licensing Executive Society (USA & Canada) and previously was Trustee for Partnering in 2006 and 2007. In that capacity, she spearheaded the Power Networking initiative that debuted at the 2007 Annual Meeting. She has been a member of the LES Life Sciences Committee since 2003.
Milton H. Grannatt, Ph.D.

Rick started his career with Mallinckrodt as a research chemist and in addition to the roles above has held various business, quality and operational positions. Most recently he led the divestiture of Covidien’s specialty chemical business, Mallinckrodt Baker which was sold to New Mountain Capital in August of 2010.
Rita Kelley

Rita Kelley is the principle at Shoreline Consulting, LLC, a life science consulting firm, specializing in Business Development, Brand Management, and Global Marketing and Commercialization.
In the pharma/biotech field for over 20 years, she most recently served as Head of Global Marketing at EpiCept Corporation, a start up biotechnology company specializing in developing novel compounds for cancer. Previously, Ms. Kelley led Millennium Pharmaceuticals global marketing and business development efforts for their portfolio products in solid and hematologic tumors and in prior assignments, she has also led the US and global sales, marketing and operations teams with leading pharmaceutical companies in the US and EU including Eli Lilly, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Novartis and Pfizer and in biotech companies including Genetics Institute, and Biogen.
Ms. Kelley’s expertise is broadly acknowledged, having recently interviewed by PharmaVoice regarding “Building Global Teams”. Ms. Kelley has also been a speaker at such prestigious events as the 2009 Deutsche Bank Conference on Emerging Markets, as well as the 2009 Pharmaceutical Executive Leadership Conference. In 2003, Ms. Kelley was named Who’s Who in Biotech and Pharma.
Ms. Kelley earned her Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing and Finance from the University of Mississippi, and holds a Masters Certificate in International Management from Harvard University in Cambridge Massachusetts.

Prior to GLG, Kiva was head of national accounts for Washington-based security software developer, Kastle Systems. And prior to Kastle, Kiva worked for CPI, a niche consultancy focused on organizational development. Kiva studied at University of Delaware, and received degrees in Political Science and Marketing.
David Nicholson, PhD

Dr. David Nicholson graduated in pharmacology, earning his B.S. from the University of Manchester and his Ph.D. from the University of Wales. He has been employed in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry since 1978.
David began working for Beecham at its research facility in Germany in 1978. In 1988, he joined Organon BioSciences in Newhouse, Scotland, where he was the pharmacology department head.
From 1993-2002, he worked in Organon's Oss, Netherlands, headquarters. During that time, he held the positions of program vice president of CV and CNS R&D (cardiovascular and central nervous system research and development); head of research in the Netherlands; head of global research; and, eventually, head of research and development for the company.
Based in New Jersey since 2002, David joined Schering-Plough following its acquisition of Organon in 2007. Prior to his arrival at Merck in 2009, he served as senior vice president of Global Project Management and Drug Safety.
Shannon Pettypiece

Shannon Pettypiece is a reporter at Bloomberg Television. Based in New York City, she covers the health care industry, including drug makers, biotechnology companies, medical device makers and insurers for Bloomberg Television's global 24-hour business and financial news channel.
Pettypiece joined Bloomberg News in January 2006 in Washington, D.C. where she reported on the Food and Drug Administration. In 2007, she moved to New York where she took over coverage of the pharmaceutical industry, covering research, corporate and financial news in the sector. Pettypiece has also been a contributor to Bloomberg Businessweek.
Pettypiece began her journalism career as an intern at The New York Times in Washington, D.C. and later worked as a stringer for The New Times in Detroit. Prior to joining Bloomberg, she covered health care and technology for Crain's Cleveland Business and prior to that, she reported on real estate, transportation and government in South Florida for Miami Today News.
She is a graduate of the University of Michigan where she was an editor for the Michigan Daily.
Sam Rasty, Ph.D., MBA

Sam Rasty is Director of Corporate Development at Endo Pharmaceuticals, an outcomes-driven specialty pharmaceutical company with a strategic focus in pain management, urology, endocrinology and genitourinary oncology. His responsibilities include strategic identification of new in-license opportunities and product/franchise growth strategies across multiple therapeutic areas. In addition, he leads the effort to provide scientific and commercial assessments of in-licensing and M&A product candidates and manages the commercial dialog with prospective partners. Prior to joining Endo, he was Director of Portfolio Management, Global Commercial Strategy, at GlaxoSmithKline. In this highly matrixed global role, he led the effort to collaborate with heads of R&D and the commercial organization on product development strategies, commercial analysis, in-licensing and portfolio management, covering GSK’s diverse portfolio of Discovery and Development assets in multiple therapeutic areas including oncology, cardiovascular, metabolic, infectious diseases, musculoskeletal, inflammation, gastrointestinal and urology. His experiences prior to GSK included management strategy consulting and venture capital investments in healthcare, roles with progressively increasing responsibilities in business development and licensing, and management of biotech R&D teams.
He received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular Virology from Louisiana State University, completed his postdoctoral training in Molecular Genetics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and holds an MBA from Villanova University.
