GE's investment in digital transformation started with the company's interest in addressing an alarming trend across industrial businesses: a marked slowdown in productivity. Now, years into the journey, GE Power - GE's largest industrial business -  has signed more than 30 software customers. In this keynote, GE Power Chief Technology Officer Sham Chotai will explore the journey to becoming a leading software business that is helping a more than 100-year-old industry navigate its own inevitable change. While harnessing the data from the electricity system could generate $1.3 trillion in value in the next decade, currently only 2 percent of data generated in the industry is analyzed. GE Power has created its purpose-built Predix data platform and a suite of analytics applications to tackle precisely that challenge. In this presentation, Chotai will describe how leading utilities and power producers among GE's customer base are using Predix to improve the reliability, efficiency, and profitability of their operations. Chotai will explore the impact that data has when real-time analytics can drive 1 percent improvements with global impact.

Sham Chotai is responsible for providing technical leadership and serves as the strategic functional leader for the development of all GE Power & Water software products and services. He works at the intersection of Energy, Internet of Things, Cloud and Big Data at GE.
