Wharton Private Equity Partners (WPEP) is an exclusive and growing network of alumni that are leaders in private equity around the globe.  Formed in 1998, WPEP has grown to over 450 members with chapters in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York, Silicon Valley, and Texas, as well as a growing overseas presence in major cities including London, the Middle East, Paris, and Hong Kong.
Membership is limited to both GPs and LPs investing in leveraged buy-outs, growth capital, mezzanine, venture capital, distressed and secondaries.

The goals and objectives of WPEP are networking, education, awareness and interaction for the thousands of Wharton and University of Pennsylvania alumni in the private equity industry. Mores specifically they include:

NETWORKING. Networking will increase opportunities to:

  • Access deal flow, co-investment and fund raising opportunities.
  • Interact with other GPs, LPs, management teams and entrepreneurs working with private equity sponsors.
  • Provide a resource base from which to improve on any due diligence issues.
  • Improve career opportunities for members.

EDUCATION. Provide a forum to further understand and keep abreast of issues such as investment sourcing, industry dynamics, limited partners and fundraising, financing, deal execution and portfolio management.

AWARENESS. WPEP seeks to increase awareness of Wharton graduates working in private equity. WPEP brings together Wharton alumni working in private equity through an organized network of both LPs and GPs.

INTERACTION. WPEP acts as a resource base for Wharton alumni and current students interested in private equity through annual events and participation through the Wharton Private Equity Club and the faculty at the Wharton School.

Corporate sponsors, including O’Melveny & MyersRSM McGladrey, Sextant and Wllis have enabled WPEP to reinvest in the organization and continue expanding and building into an even stronger network.

Interested alumni can apply for membership on our website at www.wpen.org. The site also includes a list of upcoming events and other relevant information. We hope to see you at a future program.
