David Remnitz

David Remnitz is senior managing director in FTI’s Technology practice specializing in Electronic Evidence and is based in New York. With eighteen years of experience consulting in the high technology and financial services industries, Mr. Remnitz specializes in the areas of complex electronic systems discovery and analysis of electronic communications. He has worked extensively with global businesses and is trained in international data privacy provisions.
Mr. Remnitz has served as lead in many of the world’s most high profile investigations involving electronic evidence including cases within finite risk, market timing and manipulation, bid rigging, accounting fraud, theft of intellectual property and the defense of large class actions. His clients include many of the largest insurance, financial services, media, life sciences and services companies faced with Attorneys General, SEC, US Attorney and FTC demands. He is a member of the Sedona Working Group on eDiscovery.
Prior to joining FTI, Mr. Remnitz was Chief Executive Officer of IFsec, one of the earliest companies dedicated to helping enterprises define, evaluate and defend against information security threats. IFsec, based in New York, distinguished itself by emphasizing the integration of security measures with overall business objectives, and thus quickly became a boardroom-level advisor to firms ranging from high-profile new media ventures to Fortune 500 corporations. Prior to 1997, Mr. Remnitz held various Senior Executive positions, working with The Rockefeller Group, Matthew Bender, Ernst & Young and Andersen Consulting.
Mr. Remnitz served as lead engagement partner in many of the largest electronic evidence investigations in the U.S. and EU including assisting in the defense of global corporations facing NY Attorney General, SEC and DOJ subpoenas. He was specifically involved in defending many of the investigations against large mutual fund complexes, insurance companies, financial institutions, media conglomerates and software companies.
Mr. Remnitz served as advisor to financial services firms including: New York Life Insurance Company, Swiss Re:, Goldman Sachs, The Federal Reserve, First Boston, UBS Warburg, The NY Stock Exchange, IMF, Dow Jones and Standard & Poors in multiple areas including electronic mail monitoring, trading systems architecture, transaction performance, database and storage architecture, transaction security and process improvements to overall trading technology operation.
Mr. Remnitz is one of the nation’s leading experts on electronic discovery and information security strategy, architecture and implementation. He has advised CEOs, board directors and general counsels on conducting and responding to computer based discovery issues, evaluating and recreating electronic and physical communications, and formulating strategies for counsel to analyze sophisticated data from supporting electronic systems. He is a frequent media commentator and speaker on electronic discovery, security, privacy and information systems, and is a member of numerous government-sponsored initiatives, including the Electronic Crimes Task Force of the U.S. Secret Service. |
