Global legal and compliance departments are continually challenged to do “more with less,” despite ever increasing regulation.  A standard response to new regulation is increasing process and paperwork, but this creates frustration with internal clients and puts strain on legal and compliance organizations. Engility has taken a strategic approach to compliance, where the emphasis is on reducing the administrative and paper burden to focus on the areas of greatest risk. As Engility’s Corporate Compliance Officer, Mr. Brooks has employed this approach with success in some of the most challenging environments, including Pakistan and Somalia, and will share his insights and experiences with you.

Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Corporate Compliance Officer

  • 2:25pm – 2:40pm Coffee Break
  • 2:40pm – 3:15pm Keynote Presentation: “Government Regulatory Changes Affecting us all Forecasted by Recent Government Contract Actions”

Due to changes in law, and increasingly through Executive Orders, the government contract regulatory environment is expanding rapidly.  Unlike laws like Sorbanes-Oxley or the Fair Labor Standards Act, many of these requirements are buried in agency budget allocations.  Because Congress frequently use these agency allocations to implement social policies, and seem to apply only to prime government contractors, commercial contractors often overlook these regulations as applying to them or worry that they might be expanded to apply to them in the future.

These are not safe assumptions which could place your company at risk.  This keynote will discuss the current government contract regulatory environment, how it has changed and how those changes can apply to your business to make all aware of the potential dangers to your businesses.
