Why You Should Attend!

As today’s empowered consumers and their shifting preferences continue to dictate the pace of change in the marketplace, organizations within the retail and consumer goods and services industries are facing two options: keep up and deliver a delightful, personalized experience, or a disruptor will beat you to it. Consequently, executive teams are looking to their CMOs to help them understand how consumer preferences are impacting their industry, how to adapt, and how to engage with these consumers in a meaningful, lasting fashion that beats out their competitors. While executives across industries all over the world face these challenges, no executives experience these pressures quite as intimately as marketers in the retail and consumer goods and services industries. The need to stay on top of evolving preferences is ruthless, unpredictable, and exhausting – but best in class marketers are succeeding, and marketing has gained an increasingly important seat at the executive table as a result.

Argyle Executive Forum is bringing together leading marketing executives from retail, consumer goods and consumer services industries to discuss the latest challenges and opportunities facing brands today at our 2016 CMO Forum: Spotlight on Retail and Consumer Goods & Services. Throughout keynote sessions, fireside chats, breakout panel sessions and roundtable discussions, the forum will focus on several areas, including: leveraging data to understand the consumer, the modern shopper experience, delivering personalized cross-channel experiences, how to avoid the creepy factor, and much more.

This event will feature insights from top executives, including:

A constant challenge for marketing executives is obtaining proof for initiatives and investments they know intuitively are contributing profitable return.  An appropriate marketing mix has become a cliché, with C-suites demanding measurable ROAS with every expenditure.  Increasingly, the more measurable the initiative, the more likely it will gain approval, regardless of its contribution, simply because of its measurability.  Accurate attribution of broad scale media spend is at worst an unrealizable fantasy, or at best a domain reserved for the cherished few whose budget is so large they can afford sophisticated modeling and research for every campaign.

Frank Hamlin, CMO at GameStop, will explain how he faced this challenge last summer.  Using rudimentary scientific method and partnering closely with his in-house financial analysis team, Frank outlines in step by step fashion the hypotheses he tested around adding a continuity, value proposition, “air cover" campaign to his promotional mix,  and the hardened metrics he delivered to support a national rollout of the broad scale media campaign.

    Participants will learn about:

    • Accurate modeling for geographically sound test and control markets
    • Creative decision-making for various channel alternatives
    • Premium media vs. Direct Response media vs. Digital media-buying methodologies
    • Partnering traditional agencies with non-traditional agencies and in-house marketing, e-commerce, and creative teams
    • Offline lift in transactions, sales, trade inventory dollars, and new customers
