External factors such as customer demands, market volatility, digital disruption, and government regulations are putting increased pressure on you and your FP&A team to react quickly. You need to collaborate more closely with the business, be more efficient with allocation of capital, and make more frequent forecast adjustments in order to meet your company’s financial goals. But traditional planning challenges persist that prevent FP&A teams from transforming how to plan and prepare for the future—by collaborating with the business and connecting planning processes.

Session topics include, but are not limited to:

    • How can finance better connect finance and operational goals to lead real transformation across the company?
    • How can finance collaborate across the organization to meet your company’s financial goals?

Corporate Finance organizations are experiencing the first impacts of what will be a massive change in the way they work, as the world transitions to the Digital Economy.  The result will be a tremendous positive change in the way finance performs its function.  This transformation is being driven by two major factors:

    1) Demands from the business are creating new business models.

    2) Disruptive technologies are significantly impacting how finance professionals perform their daily tasks.

Multiple technologies are arising that allow for substantial change but taken together, they allow for radical change.

What will be discussed? Explore hot topics and challenge areas such as:

The Evolution of Financial Reporting

For organizations that prepare annual reports, the opportunity to review a full year in hindsight presents finance teams with the perspective they need to plan for the year ahead. Yet just as expanding your horizon from one month to 12 months reveal trends that are not easily perceptible over a shorter timeframe, so too does broadening your observations beyond financial metrics to identify new ways to measure performance. We will examine:

    • How new expectations among companies' key internal and external stakeholders are changing the nature of reporting
    • How to maintain the accuracy and timeliness of the data that informs your budgets, plans, and forecasts
    • Best practices for working with other areas of your company to develop a comprehensive view of performance
    • The role of the CFO not only in reporting past results but also in enhancing an organization's visibility into its future

How CFO's Improve the Value of Budgets

For CFOs, gaining buy-in for the budgeting process is as important as ensuring the integrity of the numbers. An effective budget results from a CFO's cultivation of relationships with, and gathering of knowledge from, each department outside finance and each business unit throughout an organization. We will focus on:

    • Key challenges finance leaders face with budgeting, and how they are overcoming them
    • Best practices for determining which methods of budgeting address your organization's needs
    • The CFO's role in transforming an organization's approach to budgeting
    • Strategies and techniques a finance leader can use, as well as how to collaborate effectively with other departments, to establish a more efficient and more accurate budgeting process

How CFO's Can Use Forecasting to Support Growth

As CFO's take on increasing strategic responsibilities, their acumen with developing forecasts is crucial for enabling their companies to plan beyond the next quarter. We will discuss:

    • Why forecasts are becoming as important or even more important than budgets
    • The latest developments in forecasting CFOs should know about
    • How to recognize when your approach to forecasting needs to change
    • How to gain support for the introduction of new processes and resources to improve forecasting
