Why You Should Attend!

Chances are good that you have everything you need to grow leadership greatness inside your organization right now. But if your organization is like many others, you might not be maximizing your assets. Looking across hundreds of succession systems, three things stand apart as “sleeping giants of succession” or the factors that enable or derail success in generating ready-now leaders.

We’ll explore these factors and exchange stories and insights at Argyle Executive Forum’s 2017 HR Think Tank, in partnership with Development Dimensions International. Join Human Capital Leaders from across the nation to discuss the three forces you can awaken to accelerate leadership growth.

This keynote will review the three factors, discuss how to maximize your current efforts, or if necessary, turn around your succession derailers and convert them into accelerators. Author and Succession Management expert Matt Paese will share insights and stories of how organizations have built leadership acceleration programs and overcome these obstacles. He will contrast successful efforts with those that fell short, and share approaches for improving the odds, including:

    • Harnessing the energy and competitive instincts of senior executives.
    • Gathering and utilizing data that fuels accelerated growth.
    • Converting learning programs into high-impact business levers.

    • Tell a (brief) story about the executive in your organization who you believe is most committed to growing leaders.  Why is she/he so committed?  Are there others like her/him?  Why or why not?
    • What’s the riskiest move your organization has taken to grow leadership capability (e.g., a major stretch assignment; a major investment; a non-traditional player in a key role)?  Why was it risky?  Was it worth it?  Did it encourage more risk-taking, or less?  How much risk do you feel is appropriate when growing leaders?
    • In your organization, how do you know if you’re developing people in the right ways?  What do you do to ensure that your investments in development are working for the business?
