Lisa Acevedo brings nearly two decades of deep experience in HIPAA and health information privacy and security to provide clients with business-focused compliance strategies to maximize the benefits of health data while minimizing and responding to ever-changing threats and risks. As the Chair of Polsinelli’s Health Information Privacy and Security team, Lisa provides strategic counsel in the areas of federal health privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA, FERPA, the Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Records (42 CFR Part 2), as well as state laws governing the confidentiality of health information, mental health records, and records containing other highly sensitive information. She also advises multi-national health care companies with international data protection laws that impact their use and transfer of health data, including the EU Privacy Directive, the soon-to-be-effective General Data Protection Regulation, and Privacy Shield compliance.
Lisa assists clients in developing, implementing, and updating their privacy and security compliance programs. She also guides clients through the regulatory hurdles of data use and sharing for research, quality of care, marketing, and other purposes. Lisa provides guidance and counsel on structuring complex strategic alliances and other arrangements related to health information exchanges, clinically integrated networks, and other integrated medical record arrangements. She has also assisted clients with “Big Data” strategies, including creation and implementation of data warehouses.
Lisa counsels clients through data security incidents and breaches. She has assisted clients in responding to breaches, including those involving phishing attacks and other malware, theft and vendor breaches, involving hundreds of thousands of affected patients. She has also successfully guided clients through resulting OCR and state agency investigations resulting in closure of those investigations with no fines or penalties.
Lisa earned the designation of Certified Information Privacy Professional-U.S. (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She also earned the designation of Certified Information Privacy Professional-Europe (CIPP/E) through IAPP in 2017 under the certification examination updated to include GDPR. Lisa has previously served as the vice chair of the Healthcare Technology Committee within the American Bar Association’s Section of Science and Technology Law. She has also previously served as the Chair of the Latina Lawyers
Committee of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois.

Prior to Dyson, Brown was Associate General Counsel with MillerCoors where he focused on marketing, sales and regulatory matters and co-led the commercial legal team for the second largest beer company in the U.S. Before entering the beer business, Brown was the Executive Director and General Counsel for the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) a non-profit organization committed to promoting diversity within the legal profession. Earlier in his career, Brown was Director of Legal at Pepsi Beverages Company, formerly PepsiAmericas. At Pepsi, he managed litigation, corporate compliance, marketing and sales contracts for the bottling and distribution division. He began his career in private practice in Minneapolis in the litigation group of Winthrop & Weinstine before moving to Chicago to join Ungaretti & Harris.
Brown currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois and Legal Prep Charter Academy, charter high school in the West Garfield Park area of Chicago.
Brown also volunteers with the Posse Foundation. He earned his bachelor’s degree and juris doctor from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Stefan Brunnschweiler is the global head of the CMS Corporate/M&A Practice Area Group. In this position, he sets the strategy for the group and leads an international team of more than 350 partners and 1000 lawyers.
Stefan Brunnschweiler specializes in international and domestic mergers & acquisitions transactions, corporate restructurings, corporate law and general contract matters (e.g. joint ventures, partnerships and shareholders' agreements). He is experienced in a broad range of national and international transactions both sell- and buy-side (including corporate auction processes) and the assistance of clients in their ongoing corporate and commercial activities.

Bruce has been a member of H&R Block’s Legal Department since 2003 and currently leads the U.S. Client Services, Compliance & International Group. In this role, he has legal oversight responsibility for H&R Block’s global tax return preparation businesses including legal support for marketing and advertising, franchising, strategic sourcing, and intellectual property. This also includes operational responsibility for the H&R Block privacy, compliance and anti-fraud programs.
H&R Block is one of the world’s largest tax services providers offering tax return preparation services through more than 12,000 company-owned and franchised retail tax offices world-wide and through its do-it-yourself tax software solutions. Bruce obtained his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law.

Nate Isaacson is Divisional Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary at Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores, Inc. (SHO) and has been with SHO since 2012. Areas of focus include: privacy and cybersecurity; commercial transactions; M&A; regulatory compliance; business development; environmental, health and safety; real estate; and governance.
Prior to joining SHO, Nate served as Senior Counsel and Sears Holdings Corporation, where he managed international trade, sourcing and regulatory compliance matters. Mark Jaeger is Senior Vice President – Human Resources, General Counsel and Secretary for Jockey International, Inc. Jockey has been privately held since 1876, and its headquarters is in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Mark has been general counsel at Jockey since 1995. Before Jockey Mark was senior staff counsel at Northrop (Grumman) Corporation. In his legal role at Jockey, Mark focuses on international trade, compliance and brand protection.
Mark is past chair and current vice chair of the textile and apparel Industry Trade Advisory Committee (ITAC 13). He is past chair and a current member of the Government Relations Committee of the American Apparel & Footwear Association. Mark is the secretary and a member of the Board of Directors of WRAP. WRAP is a global compliance program that works at the factory level to ensure apparel factories are operating consistent with local law and international standards.
Mark has a B.B.A. degree in economics, with honors, from the University of Iowa, and he has a law degree from Southern Illinois University.

World Kitchen is a private, global consumer products company located in Rosemont, Illinois that manufactures and distributes Pyrex® glass bakeware, Corelle® dinnerware, Snapware® storage products, CorningWare® ceramic bakeware and other products found in millions of homes around the world.
Elliot serves as a strategic business partner across the enterprise to clients in commercial, operations and administrative business functions. He is a member of World Kitchen’s Leadership Council and its Global Products Supply Leadership Team. Areas of focus include: products liability/consumer safety; corporate finance; commercial transactions; litigation; labor and employment; business development; contract negotiation; environmental, health and safety; real estate; compliance; and governance.
Prior to joining World Kitchen, Elliot was a partner at Barack Ferrazzano Kirschbaum and Nagelberg, in Chicago, where he enjoyed a corporate and finance practice. Mark J. Ohringer has been Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated since April 2003. Edward T. Paulis III is vice president and senior assistant general counsel of Zurich North America, a part of the Zurich Insurance Group. Zurich is a leading global insurer that provides property-casualty and life insurance products in more than 210 countries and territories.
In his enterprise-wide role, Mr. Paulis provides daily support to senior management and business partners on corporate transactions, employment, risk management, compliance, privacy and data security issues. Since joining Zurich in 2007, Mr. Paulis has held positions and roles of increasing responsibility, including managing complex corporate non-claim litigation and investigations. He was awarded Zurich North America’s KAMP Leadership Award in 2013.
Prior to joining Zurich North America, Mr. Paulis worked in the litigation practice group of Manhattan based Herzfeld & Rubin, P.C., handling commercial litigation and corporate matters. Mr. Paulis is admitted to practice in New York, Illinois, Maryland, the District of Columbia, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He was included in the Register of Mediators for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York, from 1999 to 2007.
Mr. Paulis currently serves as chairperson of the board of directors of First Eagle Federal Credit Union, a financial institution with assets approaching $100 million and over 10,000 members. He has been recognized for his career achievements and community outreach, including his commitment to financial education and mentorship. In 2014, he was recognized by the Maryland legal community with a Leadership in Law Award, and by Junior Achievement USA as an Outstanding JA Volunteer. In 2016, Mr. Paulis received the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Robert I. Townsend, Jr. Member of the Year Award. Mr. Paulis maintains an AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating with Martindale Hubbell.

Patrick M. Sheller is Mead Johnson Nutrition's Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary. Mr. Sheller manages the company’s global legal organization and advises senior management and the Mead Johnson Board of Directors on securities law and corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, complex commercial contracts, litigation, intellectual property, labor and employment law and FDA and international nutrition products regulatory matters.
Mr. Sheller joined Mead Johnson in January 2015 from Eastman Kodak Company, where he served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary and Chief Administrative Officer. Mr. Sheller was responsible for Kodak's worldwide legal function and was the principal legal advisor to the board of directors and senior management. Prior to becoming Kodak’s General Counsel, Mr. Sheller also served as Deputy General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, Division Counsel to the company's former Health Group, Chief Antitrust Counsel, and international counsel to the company's European, African and Middle Eastern Region. He also held strategic planning and operating roles in Kodak's former Health Care Information Systems business.
Prior to joining Kodak, Mr. Sheller was in private practice with McKenna, Connor & Cuneo (now part of Dentons) in Washington, D.C., specializing in antitrust, litigation and healthcare law. He previously worked for the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C., serving as Attorney Advisor to the Chairman and as a Staff Attorney in the Commission's Bureau of Competition.

Mark Standefer joined Essendant Co. (f/k/a United Stationers Supply Co.) as Associate General Counsel in 2004. Essendant is a national wholesaler of workplace products that services a diverse group of approximately 30,000 reseller customers. Essendant’s 2016 sales totaled approximately $5.4 billion (NASDAQ/ESND).
Mark is currently lead counsel and leadership team member for the company’s Information Technology and Credit Organizations. He previously served on the leadership teams for the Company’s former MBS Dev, Inc. and Lagasse, LLC subsidiaries. While at Essendant, Mark’s responsibilities have included participation on numerous cross-functional teams bringing change to the organization, management of complex litigation, and handling a wide range of projects to support different aspects of the business.
Prior to joining Essendant, Mark served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary (and before that Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary) of Allied Products Corporation (NYSE/ADP). Allied Products was a diversified industrial manufacturer that filed for protection under chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code in October of 2000.
Following the Allied Products bankruptcy filing, Mark worked with bankruptcy counsel, counsel for the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors, special counsel, and the Plan Agent in virtually all aspects of the bankruptcy proceeding and liquidation of the corporation.
Earlier in his career, Mark served as Staff Attorney at Sun Electric Corporation, a manufacturer of automotive diagnostic test equipment, and as an associate at the Chicago law firm of Rosenberg, Savner & Unikel.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, and earned a J.D. with Honors from the Illinois Institute of Technology/Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Courtney VanLonkhuyzen Welton as Global General Counsel leads legal matters across Lenovo’s Mobile Business Group in North America, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and EMEA. Previously, she led commercial legal teams for Motorola, Google and Lenovo focused on relationships with key suppliers and channel partners. Courtney was also instrumental in re-launching Lenovo’s philanthropic Foundation, including overseeing the company’s charitable work, engaging employees as volunteers, and fostering relationships with strategic nonprofits. Prior to joining the company, Courtney clerked for the Honorable David W. McKeague on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, litigated global disputes at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and led a for-profit large health care facility. She also recently served on the board of directors for a successful software company. Courtney received her B.A. from Hope College, and her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, where she served on the executive board of the NU Law Review. Courtney is based in Chicago and serves on the board of the Chicago Foundation for Women.
