Thought Leadership Spotlight featuring IBM: "The CIO Imperative to Digitally Reinvent the Business"

As digital technologies changes how businesses deploy information to make an impact on the world, while disrupting entire industries through new and innovative operating models, CIOs are finding their roles changing dramatically. No longer is it acceptable to “keep the lights on” and minimize the cost of IT to organizations. CIOs are simultaneously required to enable and empower the business while keeping systems operationally stable, information in safe hands, and unit costs progressively reducing. Today’s CIO needs a clear understanding of his/her mandate from the Board and the Executive Team to effectively balance these competing priorities.

This session explores the CIO Mandate, how to determine it, and how CIOs need to redesign their IT Operating Model to deliver upon it. CIOs are uniquely positioned to use their competencies in business architecture, project management and agile approaches to lead the rest of the business in moving forward. with digital reinvention. We will explore the concept of “Market-Back Design” in the development and delivery of IT products and services, as well as, the use of Multi-Modal models to fit the approach to the architectural requirements. Finally, we will predict future trends as CIOs lead their companies towards Everything-As-A-Service.

IT can often feel like an unwinnable game, with limited resources, changing priorities, multiple stakeholders and increased demands. Too often, IT leaders must make decisions with insufficient information and without knowing the true effect on the business.

Geoff Nielson will discuss best practices to remove the guesswork from what makes the business happy and predicts the impact of key decisions before they happen.

This session will walk you through the 3 real drivers of business satisfaction, and help IT leaders navigate a world in which:
• Only 28% of Business Leaders are satisfied with the performance of IT
