Think Tank:

2019 CIO Think Tank: Developing Your Cloud Native Approach

San Jose, CA - Jun 13, 2019

Overview

2019 CIO Think Tank: Developing Your Cloud Native Approach

Taking full advantage of the power of the cloud computing model and container orchestration, cloud native is an innovative way to build and run applications. Cloud native applications are built to run in the cloud, moving the focus away from machines to the actual service.

Since cloud native applications are architectured using microservices instead of a monolithic application structure, they rely on containers to package the application’s libraries and processes for deployment. Microservices allow developers to build deployable apps that are composed as individual modules focused on performing one specific service. Container orchestration tools, like Kubernetes, allow developers to coordinate the way in which an application’s containers will function, including scaling and deployment.

Join Argyle, in partnership with GitLab, in our 2019 CIO Think Tank: Developing Your Cloud Native Approach, as we discuss the benefits of leveraging new technologies and cloud native applications. During this Think Tank, we’ll discuss:

  • The pros of shifting to a DevOps operating structure
  • Working more collaboratively with development and operations teams to ensure a seamless production process
  • Learn more about saving money by monitoring and scaling application resources through cloud orchestration, i.e. container schedulers
  • Discuss aligning operations with business goals
  • The future of software development as a result of cloud native applications

Panel Discussion: "Developing Your Cloud Native Approach"
  • Where is your organization at in their transformation of shifting to adopting agile, DevOps, and cloud native?
  • What were the challenges or pain points you were experiencing that were the impetus for the change?
  • Any transformation involves technology, processes, and culture. What are some of the process and culture changes that you have driven? What have you done that you've seen successfully help push forward culture change?
  • We've been talking about changes in software development and delivery, but how about hardware? Is hardware development similarly shifting, does this shift borrow any practices from the world of software?
  • What is next after cloud native? What does the future look like?

GitLab is the first single application for all stages of the DevOps lifecycle. Only GitLab enables Concurrent DevOps, unlocking organizations from the constraints of today’s Toolchain to make the software lifecycle 3x faster. Only GitLab provides unmatched visibility, concurrent collaboration and comprehensive governance to radically increase the time it takes to develop great software and, subsequently, improve the speed of business.

For the first time, GitLab allows Product, Development, QA, Security, and Operations teams to all work concurrently in a single application, by default. This capability is transformative in nature. There’s no need to integrate and synchronize tools, or waste time waiting for hand-offs. Everyone contributes to a single conversation instead of managing multiple threads across disparate tools. And only GitLab gives everyone complete visibility into a single, trusted source of data to simplify troubleshooting and accountability across all stages of the lifecycle. All activity is governed by a consistent set of controls, making security and compliance first-class citizens instead of an afterthought.

Built on Open Source, GitLab leverages the community contributions of thousands of developers and millions of users to continuously deliver new DevOps innovations. Today, more than 100,000 organizations, including Ticketmaster, ING, NASDAQ, Alibaba, Sony, and Intel; and millions of users, trust GitLab to deliver great software at radical new speeds.
