Hopper’s Chief Data Scientist will Discuss Creating Data-Driven Customer Value at DATAx NY

Patrick Surry, Chief Data Scientist, Hopper will discuss how Hopper creates data-driven customer value (during the DataX Lab on Thursday, November 7).  This is the major underlying theme for his presentation – at the upcoming DATAx Conference, taking place on November 6-7 in New York.

Attendees can expect the following takeaways from Surry’s presentation

  • Innovating to deliver customer value with data
  • Nurturing a data-driven culture at your company
  • Delivering in partnership with business, product, and engineering

When asked about challenges that Surry faces, he identified that hiring the right people, staying focused on business impact over abstract theory, and simplifying were his top challenges.

In his opinion Airbnb, Uber, Amazon, and Google are the major players pushing the data science industry forward.

Surry offered a key point of advice for recruiting and maintaining top talent and for leaders looking to build high-performance teams.

“Building a team with the right “shape” of people is key.”

When asked about his current Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML) initiatives, Surry indicated that his team is working hard to deliver guarantees for their “buy or wait?” recommendations for future flight and hotel prices.
