Workfront Chief Marketing Officer Joe Staples discussed customer engagement, along with the channels today’s marketers must use to connect with clients, during a Thought Leadership Spotlight Presented by Workfront at the 2015 Chief Marketing Officer Leadership Forum: Fall Event in San Francisco on Nov. 10. In his presentation, “Get Results by Delivering More Quality Work – Faster,” Staples said speed, scalability and content creation are major trends driving today’s marketers.

According to Staples, today’s CMOs want better output at a higher quality than ever before. He said providing a marketing department with a single input tool can make it easier for team members to collaborate with one another and work together to achieve organizational goals. In addition, Staples said having the necessary tools to streamline marketing projects can help a marketing department accomplish organizational goals faster than ever before: “If you look at the landscape … everybody that graduates from school says, ‘Let’s go either work for a company or start a company that sells software to marketers because that’s where the money’s at.’ That’s what it looks like. There are just so many tools.”

Also, Staples pointed out visibility is essential to ensure each member of a marketing team understands a project’s status. And ultimately, he said workflow management tools can help marketers focus on building successful campaigns: “They didn’t become marketers to track projects and to provide status reports and to sit in meetings. They were designers and marketers for the reason that they wanted to create, and that’s what they were able to do by implementing [workflow management tools].”
